ArTIST BIO

Susan Bell is a native Coloradan. She paints scenes of the contemporary west and animals hold a strong place in her work. Her interpretation of the modern west and horse culture are often a visual irony, her work reflects the romanticized past merging with present realities. Bell’s focus on plein air allow her to capture the essence of the subjects and the movement of light as it can only be seen by the eye over time.

Bell’s Trompe L’oiel Window paintings combine landscape with wildlife portraits and precisely painted still life oils, which result in works which tell or invoke a surreal story or feeling.
