ArTIST BIO

David Harms was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado and attended Colorado State University. Harms is an artist with expression in many avenues. He is an established professional musician and actor. In 1996 he acted upon his inspiration and began his study of oil painting as an art form.

Over the years Harms has explored many techniques and covered an assortment of subject matter. It was when he discovered plein air that he found his true channel of expression. He credits his development as a painter to the valuable time he spent with Michael Lynch, as well as instruction he received at workshops presented by the Plein Air Painters of America.

In 2001, Harms work was accepted into the prestigious Top 100 Arts for the Parks competition in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was featured in the “Artists to Watch” column of the February 2004 issue of Southwest Art Magazine. Harms truly earned his right to be instated as a member of The Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters which occurred in 2006.
