ArTIST bio

Born in Montana in 1960, Jan Hinrichs grew up on a cattle ranch almost 50 miles from Kalispell. Surrounded by pets and wildlife, drawing and painting animals became a life long interest at an early age. She studied under Frank DeVita for many years and then enrolled in Montana State University as fine arts major.

Hinrichs lost interest in pursuing a degree after she realized that the focus of the fine arts department at that time was non-representational work. However, her time spent there made an impact on her work- her bronzes have a stylized feel, yet they are still realistic- capturing the spirit of the animals portrayed.

In 1986 she began to show her wildlife bronzes and has been avidly collected ever since. Her work has found its place in the art world- with vigilant collectors anticipating the casting of each new piece. Her works are held in corporate and personal collections nationwide.
