His grandmother, Juan Dell is a renowned sculptor, while his grandfather, Joe Wade operated Joe Wade Fine Art- one of the oldest and most respected galleries in the Southwest to this day. As a child, Wade was an avid painter and experimented with oils, pastels and acrylics. At the age of 13, Wade began lessons with his uncle, Barry McCuan and his aunt, Arlene Ladell Hayes. By the age of 18, Wade had gained enough experience and training to exhibit and sell his art professionally. Searching for his own style has taken Wade down many paths, leading him to experiment with a variety of mediums. Wade's artistic voice is impressionistic, bright and reminiscent of Van Gogh, although he also experiments with realism learning from the techniques of the European masters. Wade is not only a studio artist, but also a plein air artist and often paints on location allowing nature to renew and recharge his creative spirit. Curtis Wade spends his time between Santa Fe, New Mexico and San Antonio, Texas. He finds inspiration painting the River Walk of San Antonio and Ghost Ranch, Black Mesa, and the numerous churches of northern New Mexico.
